Phase Two of construction is officially underway at Summit Pointe! A ceremonial groundbreaking event held on June 4, 2019, marked the official beginning of construction of Helix, the first new living community; 555 Belaire, the second office building; and a multitude of ground-floor retail and restaurant spaces coming to Coastal Virginia’s newest urban lifestyle community.
Leaders from Dollar Tree, Inc and the City of Chesapeake met at the site of the Helix apartments along the iconic Belaire Avenue to speak, celebrate, and break ground on the new developments coming to Summit Pointe.
Breaking ground at the event were Executive Chairman of Dollar Tree, Inc. Bob Sasser, Chesapeake Mayor Rick West, Chesapeake EDA Assistant Director Ben White, Chesapeake City Manager James Baker, Vice President of Portfolio Management of Dollar Tree, Inc. Chris Williams, Corporate Counsel – Real Estate of Dollar Tree, Inc. Christian Chiles, SCA Architects Partner Burrell Saunders, Director Facilities & Special Projects of Dollar Tree, Inc. Bob Gantt and Archway Advisors President Paul Kreckman.
Bob Sasser spoke about the progress made at Summit Pointe thus far, as well as his vision for the future of the community. Sasser discussed the development at Summit Pointe, saying “This is a tremendous opportunity and an exciting time to be part of the Greenbrier Community.”
Mayor Rick West also spoke, giving his perspective on the benefits that Summit Pointe will bring to the region. Mayor West discussed the benefits of the community, saying “the Summit Pointe project has the combined ability to attract new companies, providing new and higher paying jobs, and infusing additional tax revenue to keep pace with world-class cities and infrastructure.”

Phase Two of construction at Summit Pointe will include completion of the Helix living community, which will feature 133 living units, and the 555 Belaire office building, which will feature six stories of Class A+ office space. Both developments will sit atop ground-floor retail and restaurant space and will enjoy access to unparalleled amenities and stunning views along the iconic Belaire Avenue. Construction on all developments is scheduled for completion in mid-2020.
